Today is Day 3 of the Back To Blogging Challenge created by the SITS girls. For one, I am grateful for that website. There is just so much AMAZING content to help you grow your blog if you’re interested in starting one.
Everyday I write in my journal what I’m grateful for because it is important for me to remember those positive things.
When I write them down, it helps me stay happy and not as grumpy. I remember one morning my 5 year old (he was 4 at the time) woke up at 4:30am and was just excited for the day. NOT me!
“Mommy, what’s for breakfast?” he asked.
“Sleep, Cam. Go back to sleep for a little bit!” I said that in my sheer irritation at the thought of getting up. I mean, the sun wasn’t rising yet. Why on God’s green earth should I be out of my warm cozy bed?
“Can you make me breakfast? I’d really like waffles.” This kid is persistent, huh?
“Come on, Cam. Is it light out yet?” I tried not raising my voice for fear of waking up my 3 year old because then all hell will break loose.
“Just something to eat mommy (he puts on his sad face) and I’ll be quiet in the living room.” He looked so sad, which made me feel bad. Who am I to tell him when he needs to wake up just because I was up blogging the night before? Is that his fault? That was the self talk I started telling myself.
Finally, I get back into a semi-okay zone and I start mumbling what I was grateful for. I’m grateful that I have a child who wakes up in the morning and is excited for life. I’m grateful that I have the ability to wake up with him in the morning because some parents miss out or have to be at work. I’m grateful that he likes spending time with me and talking to me when we eat breakfast.
By that time, I was okay, even if it wasn’t even 5am in the morning after all that went down. It is amazing how gratitude changes your perspective on things.
Let’s talk about what I am grateful for now.
